Federal Government Closed on Monday

Oh, no:

The federal government will be closed on Monday in the Washington area, according to the Office of Personnel Management, as the region continues to plow out of an historic snowstorm.

How can the nation function without the guidance of the Wise Ones in DC? Who will prioritize, organize, and direct our otherwise feeble, blind efforts while ensuring we comply with the latest standards of inclusion, tolerance, and achieving diversity?

I don't know. I just don't know.

I seem to recall several years ago that the Federal government shut down for a few (blessed!) days due to a "budget crisis" springing from some rare resistance (or more likely, just plain bureaucratic bungling) to increase the debt limit. The biggest complaint to emerge from that was a delay in getting passports renewed.

My lovely bride made a very clever comment on this topic the other day. Being a born-again Southern nationalist, and a big New Orleans Saints fan, she quipped, 'Mark, Mark, it really happened! The Saints are in the Super Bowl and hell (D.C.) has frozen over!'

God bless our Southern women!

If only we could close them down permanently. Nothing they do can not be done more efficiently at the State level or in the private market. And plenty of things they do shouldn't be done at all.

Mark Thomey,

That's too good to keep in the comments section!

PalmettoPatriot,

Yes, but the real revelation is how much they do that's counter-productive. When folks understand that, we'll see real change we can believe it.
