The problem with Palin

I've caught a lot of flak from readers who think Palin is the answer to our prayers. After all, they say, she supported the Alaskan Independence Party. She's a conservative who can take down Obama in 2012.

To which I say, so what? She's George W. Bush in skirts. The last thing the conservative movement needs now is yet another Judas goat who's going to lead us where our handlers want us, and that's supporting more idiotic wars and more big government. Palin's a star-struck newbie who's going to sell us out, just as W sold us out, and his daddy before him.

This piece in The American Conservative pretty much sums up my feelings toward Palin:

Even the more belligerent new nationalism of Goldwater, which in the 1960s largely supplanted the old nationalism of Taft within the mainstream conservative movement, was based on defense of our nation, not on attempting to control the entire planet as a favor to foreign governments or for the sake of reputed ideals. This utopian and resentment-provoking policy is actually a variant of internationalism. Neoconservatism, an ideology neither new nor conservative, is a product of Wilsonian Democrats with a dash of Trotskyite Communism. The neocon founders were with FDR and Truman against Taft in the ’40s and with LBJ against Goldwater in the ’60s. Neoconservatives have always been deeply and unalterably committed to two of the most deadly -isms of all: militarism and imperialism. This is the foreign policy that Sarah Palin has chosen to adopt. As a result, her pro-life ethic excludes humans involved in any war sanctioned by the federal government.

Be sure to read the rest. It's a well-written piece with genuine insight.

OK, I'll read it. However, GWB and his father were both Skull and Bones UN'ers who basically deceived conservatives. GWB was no conservative - and that man was no Christian either.

Sarah Palin, you've pegged it, is a "newbie". Yet, I believe she has real shining true character and a good heart - unlike GWB.

Sarah learned very quickly that Republicans in power are "not her friends". (Most Republicans in power are "not our friends" either, in my opinion.) Sarah Palin is a real "populist candidate" and an outstanding American. I'm definitely "on her team" - though I'm not sure she's the real "answer" for America at this time.

I think God has an answer for America and we'll see His answer possibly beginning to move in 2010.

We're going to see a "dark horse" potentially arise in 2010 to unite, gather, and lead the Americans of excellent character to victory and liberty. We're on the verge of a Great Awakening that is going to dramatically alter the political realm and birth a new nation. This I know by spiritual insight beyond a shadow of a doubt - and it may begin in 2010.

No offense intended Suzie Q, but I find your Lincolnian rhetoric a bit creepy. I just want to be left alone.

Great article. I see the author is from JSU! It summed up my feelings in the first sentence: "I want to like Sarah Palin" - I do, and I can't help but respect her, but we don't need her as president. Even if there were someone who was truly qualified (Ron Paul?) and could miraculously win, I still don't think it would make any difference. We'd need several hundred Ron Pauls, and we just don't have em. At this point we should care more about how we vote for county Sheriff than how we vote for DC politicians.

Excellent. It could have been written by me! It represents my thoughts on her quite well. Thanks for it!

To me, she is the rights version of the lefts Obama. Says what they want to hear, with little experience, and no mention of the Constitution, Federalism, or our Foundation.

Old Rebel:

I agree with Old Rebel. I can only see her actions as (1) pure opportunism, or (2) very confusing.

I wish she would break out from the Washington Establishment in favor of Alaska secessionism; but I suspect that, having been seduced by the handlers, she has burned that bridge.

Suzie Q:

I hope you're right, but I think it more likely that we're going to have to struggle for our freedom one statehouse at a time. We have had so much frustration dealing at the national level for so many years, that further action on the federal level is likely to prove a waste of time.

No offense, Travis, but if folks were leaving us alone - we wouldn't be needing a new country. I'm not HARDLY Lincolnian. Give me a new country and burn the former country.

They burned Savanah, didn't they??

Well, they won't be putting out the fires that are going to burn soon.

We're going to see real wrath of God fall on the USA in Judgment very soon.

That's not "Lincolnian" though you might find it "creepy".

It's prophetic... and it's Divine retribution from my view.

Harold,

If I was a wagering person - I'd put money on that I'm right.

We're going to see the USA go down in flames in one hour in the Judgment of God... and a new Christian nation arising in the same hour.

Get ready to see it - I know it beyond a shadow of doubt. May happen in 2010. Certainly by 2012 - but I'm hopeful 2010 is the year. You're going to see Divine intervention and Divine retribution. This is a Christian nation founded by Christians under the Sovereignty - the Kingship of God - and God is going to rise up and show us He's had enough with the despite for Christians, the Bible, and His rule of this nation.

Folks kinda thought God was dead. Nope, He's alive - He's ticked... and will prove it.

;)

Assuming there will be a U.S. federal election in 2012 pitting Palin against Obama, what's a Southern patriot to do? Answer: Neither one furthers the cause of a Southern nation, therefore vote for neither. Write in Ron Paul's name and follow Mr. Foster's advice - concentrate on the local and state races. Because if there is one thing we all believe in, it is a bottom-up vs. a top-down government. We will never win back our Southern nation by putting any individual into the White House, no matter how exemplary he or she might be. What good can come from throwing a diamond into a cesspool?
