I find it funny that Abraham Lincoln, who is supposedly fighting to preserve freedom and democracy, is pen pals with a communist, and that Jefferson Davis, who is supposedly evil and racist and all that, was pen pals with the pope. Real history slaps revisionism in the face again.
Garland,
Is it revisionism, or is it propaganda?
Garland, I salute you, sir.
Lincoln and Marx shared the same socialist viewpoint and those disciples of Marx that came to this country after the failed 1848 socialist revolts in Europe jointed Lincoln's armies to fulfill their dreams of a socialist state here. They knew what Lincoln was all about and agreed with his vision for America--which was really an extension of their vision.
What most conservatives don't realize is that the foundations of the Republican Party were basically socialist and some of the Forty-eighters from Europe even helped to write the Republican Party platform in 1860 that Lincoln ran on.

Hey, good to hear from you!
What you say is true. And many mainstream "conservatives" claim Abe as one of their own. Hogwash.
Let us not forget that other variety of socialist who admired Lincoln though not contemporaneously. I'm referring to the National Socialist variety. From what I understand Der Fuhrer had a number of kind things to say about Lincoln and nothing but criticism for the Confederates.
