'Dear Texas, Please Secede'

Looks like the movement for restoring self-government and liberty has a new champion:

Dear Texas, despite all of your shortcomings, I am here to inform you:

You are the last best hope of mankind.

The collectivists now have the votes in the Senate to pass the Health Care Enslavement Act. Everything else is procedure. Therefore I must recognize that now, to my utter horror...

I no longer live in a free country.

I will be forced by the power of the State to pay for a stranger's MRI. I will be forced to beg the government for permission to get a heart transplant.

I am a slave. The government now has complete power over everything that constitutes my humanity, for if they control my health and body, they control me. ...

I want my United States, but it is no longer the United States. It is gone and has been since at least the 1950's, as Rome was no longer Rome after the madness of the twelve Caesars, but still trundled on under momentum and past glories.

As The Other McCain observes:

And once Texas reasserts its independence, all sane Americans will immediately petition for citizenship in the Lone Star Republic. Why? Because (a) the United States is circling the toilet bowl ...

I've been telling well-meaning members of various conservative groups for some time now that the United States of the 1950s is gone forever, and that the best we can hope for is to outfit a suitable lifeboat from what's left of the REAL America.

Oh, and one more thing I'd like to add: Time's running out.

Old Rebel,
The 1950s,other than the homogenous population, strong religious culture, strongest economic base and strongest military in the world why would you want to go back there? I am a son of the South, and I make no apologies for what has gone before. Secession will not be allowed and the posturing just gets tiresome. You have to make inroads and do what is possible now. Please use your superior skills and intellect to bring people into the light.

I hope they do, thus priming the pump for the rest of us!

Of course, there is no provision anywhere in their “rules” for us to secede. I defy you to name a single modern power whose law addresses such a right. And there are many among us who construe prohibitions to secession to now be present in the U.S. Constitution (see Amendment 14, but also be sure to research in depth how it was “passed”). Free men don’t need or seek permission to be free, so any such prohibitions are quite irrelevant; secession is by its nature a provocative act of ultimate defiance. Our War of Secession in 1776 was a stunning success. The British did not allow for it, you’ll recall. And secession that certainly was, not revolution, since we made no attempt to make a change in England’s government, only throw their yoke off of us. As sure as the Federal juggernaut continues to trample us without recourse, secession is coming. It’s inevitable simply because this government will never relinquish its ever-expanding power over us and our situation will eventually reach the point of the unbearable for a select few. The only questions are who will make the leap, when, and what will be the Federal response. Sorry to say and as much as I wish it could be otherwise, we will not recover our lost liberties at the ballot box of this regime. D. V. Arminius

My fear about Texas seceeding without any other states following suit would be that we would immediatly be invaded by Mexico (by the military that is, we are already being invated daily by the dregs of that society) Don't get me wrong, I am all for secession but how would we deal with the inevitable Mexican invasion?

Great idea...but what will we do with all the hippies in Austin? I suppose we can give them the option to emigrate to San Fran.

The Indentured Servant Girl,

Actually, you'd be surprised at how many hippies are with us.

You won't see Texas secession as long as Rick NAFTA Highway Perry is Governor. And if he is done in by Hutchinson it is even less likely. Now, Oklahoma is a different story. My money would be on OK going first. They have developed a pretty strong infrastructure of patriots there. Perry could be impeached, of course, but he is the bloviater that attracted attention by calling secession a possibility in the first place.
