The Real Damage of Obama
We're not the only ones who can see how shaky DC's control over its subjects has become. This blogger sees it, but doesn't like it:
This nation is more deeply divided than it has been since before the Civil War. It is so bad that the governor of the second largest state, Texas, has talked openly about secession. There are secessionist movements in several states and twelve state legislatures have passed legislation re-asserting State’s rights. ...
If Obama continues to divide and govern as irresponsibly as he has, pushing legislation that is unpopular and locking the GOP out of the process, the political divide will continue to widen. There is no good that can come of what may be Obama’s greatest threat, failing to keep the fabric of the nation from unraveling.
Yes, fault lines widen every day. Yes, interest in local self-government and States' Rights is growing in response. And it's true this is leading toward the breakup of the empire.
But is it Obama's fault? No -- his big government agenda, and the lefties in his administration who're trying to impose that agenda on us, are only the symptoms of the real corrosive, and that is unlimited, over-centralized government power. That's why I welcomed an Obama administration, as a bucket of ice water in the faces of conservatives who'd supported George W. Bush's assaults on our culture and liberties.
I also disagree that what's unfolding before us is a bad thing. The DC empire is a monster that spreads death and dictatorship around the world, enriching and empowering its war industry and power brokers. If it takes yet another Obama administration to rouse the people to pull the plug on the DC parasite, then let's get it on.

Many of the people who are calling Obama names and are suddenly so angry with Federal spending and 'socialism' are quite hypocritical. This is because many of the same people cheered Bush II when he did almost exactly the same thing. If Obama is reason for secession, so was Bush II, so was Clinton, so was Bush I, so was Reagan, etc. What we face now is not new, it's the buildup of the centralised, warfare-welfare state - a process which has been going on for a very long time.
