Obama promises amnesty, tougher border security
I believe the first half of that promise. The second part? Well ...
Of course, Big Sister assures us -- and she really, really means it -- that the Obama administration will get tough -- real tough -- on future border jumpers:
The Obama administration will insist on measures to give legal status to an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants as it pushes early next year for legislation to overhaul the immigration system, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Friday.
In her first major speech on the overhaul, Ms. Napolitano dispelled any suggestion that the administration — with health care, energy and other major issues crowding its agenda — would postpone the most contentious piece of immigration legislation until after midterm elections next November.
Laying out the administration’s bottom line, Ms. Napolitano said officials would argue for a “three-legged stool” that includes tougher enforcement laws against illegal immigrants and employers who hire them and a streamlined system for legal immigration, as well as a “tough and fair pathway to earned legal status.”
See? Something for everybody. The leftists and Neocons get amnesty for illegal aliens, and working Americans and conservatives get yet another promise the Federal government will do its job. Win-win! I can hear Li'l Lindsey Graham now: "This bill guarantees a get-tough approach that we conservatives -- cough, cough -- can accept along with a path to legal status."
And we all know that if Obama and his folks promise something, you can take that to the bank, right? Remember when the great "Peace candidate" promised to end the Neocon Wars? Here's a reminder, from a video made in October 2007, with a transcript:
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war.... you can take that to the bank."

You missed something Old Rebel, Obama was telling the truth: he said take it to the bank. Since all of the banks failed shortly before he became president, those promises evaporated along with everyone's money. (I'm being sarcastic)
But what are these people talking about? They're actually trying to sell amnesty as a tough and fair pathway to citizenship?
Garland,
Ouchie!
The talk about "getting tough" is just to fool us into thinking DC will protect the border. Meanwhile, millions more pour in.
By "getting tough" he means making it even harder on American small business owners.
Mike Foster,
We're all cannon fodder.
