UPDATED: Fort Hood jihadist Nidal Malik Hasan "said Muslims should rise up"

This report on the Fort Hood terrorist will go into my bulging "Blood is thicker than water" file -- that is, if I can stuff it in:

Col Terry Lee, a retired officer who worked with him at the military base in Texas, alleged Maj Hasan had angry confrontations with other officers over his views. ...

"He said Muslims should stand up and fight the aggressor and that we should not be in the war in the first place." He said that Maj Hasan said he was "happy" when a US soldier was killed in an attack on a military recruitment centre in Arkansas in June. An American convert to Islam was accused of the shootings.

Col Lee alleged that other officers had told him that Maj Hasan had said "maybe people should strap bombs on themselves and go to Time Square" in New York.

In other words, Hasan's murder of 13 US soldiers yesterday was NOT from an out-of-the-blue mental breakdown -- he'd clearly thought about this a long time. That's criminal intent, folks -- intent almost as criminal as a government that continues to import a hostile, alien population into our communities.

And as to his sense of identity -- well, that was pretty clear for some time, as well:

Hasan attended prayers regularly when he lived outside Washington, often in his Army uniform, said Faizul Khan, a former imam at a mosque Hasan attended in Silver Spring, Maryland. He said Hasan was a lifelong Muslim.

'I got the impression that he was a committed soldier,' Khan said. He spoke often with Hasan about Hasan's desire for a wife.

On a form filled out by those seeking spouses through a programme at the mosque, Hasan listed his birthplace as Arlington, Virginia, but his nationality as Palestinian, Khan said.

'I don't know why he listed Palestinian,' Khan said, 'He was not born in Palestine.'
