Conservative, pro-Confederate vendor gets the boot from area mall

Hmmm -- looks like taking a stand against The One will get you booted. The owners of Concord Mall, by the way, are Obama supporters.

And don't miss the video at this link -- the mall has no problem with vulgar tee-shirts, but conservative, pro-Southern merchandise has no place there.

This is ridiculous. What's happened to our freedoms? Even in privately owned places?

At least I can say as a person who lives about an hour and a half from Concord Mills, I've never been and after this, I definitely never will go.

The guy who owns this mall will never get a dime of my money...

katras22,

I live about 45 minutes away, and will never go again.

Imagine if this had happened to a pro-Obama vendor! The mall would be a pile of rubble by nightfall.

Of course it is their property and they can refuse to renew a lease if they wish. So long as it isn't against a protected group for unapproved reasons; neither of which apply to conservatives or Southrons. But if the Simon Property Group's actions should happen to bring a boycott of the tenants in their properties then they could potentially be liable to their tenants. A smart attorney could find a cause of action under which to bring suit. I would like to take a look at their standard leases just to see what duties that Simon Properties Group owe its tenants.

HaroldC,

Is that an offer of pro bono services to Mr. Spivack? ;- )

I might be interested. There are several malls/commercial properties owned by Simon Property Group in South Carolina as well. Could be good publicity.

I try to stay away from malls since most of them are grossly overpriced and overcrowded. I have gotten to the point that if it is not availible online, at a local discount store or I cannot make it then I could probably do without.

This guy could definately have a lawsuit if he did not break any of his agreements in his lease and the mall cannot (more likely will not) provide him with copies of any rules that he broke.

If disgusting t-shirts can be sold at the same mall that would have warranted an FCC violation if the news media had shown them publically and similar merchandise against a white former president can be sold without incident there is a real problem here. I have seen t-shirts that were incredibly racist against whites worn by both blacks and hispanics and nobody says a thing.

The real fight could be in the hot new mini-malls everyone is or soon will go to exclusively...flea markets.

The mall has every right to kick out any vendor they want; people also have every right to stop shopping there . . . and I hope they do.

I used to live in Selma, Al, shadowviper. I know exactly what you're talking about. The Obama frenzy was absurd with offensive t-shirts spouting hate speech towards white folks. I happen to live in Colorado but if he was closer, I would be buying some things at Free Market Warrior.
