CNN Poll: North-South gap on gay marriage

The actual headline says "CNN Poll: Generational gap on gay marriage," but the clearest division is between the South along with the rest of the Heartland and the ruling elites in New England, as the CNN story makes explicit:

Three states, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Iowa, currently allow same-sex marriages. A law passed by Vermont law makers that makes gay and lesbian marriages legal takes effect in the state later this year. Lawmakers in Maine and New Hampshire are close to passing a similar bill.

"It's not surprising that three Northeastern states are the first to take this step," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "A majority of people who live in the Northeast say they approve of same-sex marriage. Solid majorities in the South, Midwest and West all oppose gay marriage."

Just one more good reason for letting these people go their own way without dragging us along with them.

Gay marriage is just one of the many issues where there is a North-South gap. Other issues include gun control, illegal immigration, abortion, school prayer, taxes, etc. The will of Southern voters is constantly denied on virtually every issue that is important to us. This is one of the main reasons why I'm a Southern Nationalist. There is absolutely no reason why we should continue to be yoked under the same government as people who have contempt for us and our values. If the North and South were a married couple, we would have gotten a divorce years ago for irreconcilable differences. Of course, we have to stay together "for the sake of the kids," the "kids" being the Empire's foreign wars (that it needs Southern soldiers to fight) and the South's natural resources.

Anonymous,

Agreed. We're like two different nations. The only way we can remain one is for one side to dominate the other -- until the differences have been beaten down.
