A pre-emptive strike against Youth for Western Civilization?
Multiculturalism says all races and cultures are equal, but that some are more equal than others. Some -- well, just one in particular -- is so "less equal" than the others, it isn't even permitted to have defenders. A new organization for college students, Youth for Western Civilization, seeks to inspire Western youth on the "basis of pride in their American and Western heritage." And that raises the hackles of all the usual multicult enforcers:
Officials at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which identifies and tracks hate groups in the U.S., told FOXNews.com that the YWC is not currently on its list, but some of the group's views are "suspect," including the notion that Western civilization is somehow superior. ...
"We're definitely monitoring them," said SPLC spokewoman Heidi Beirich. "We will look at them for hate group status."
And by what criteria will this group of young conservatives be secretly -- and without the right of appeal -- condemned? The article suggests an answer:
Those opposed to YWC say its message teeters on hate speech and has no place at institutions of higher learning.
"'Western' is a veiled term that means 'white,'" University of North Carolina graduate student Tyler Oakley wrote in an e-mail to FOXNews.com.
And everyone knows that "white" means "evil." No doubt about it -- the Youth for Western Civilization will have to forget about defending their own culture and learn to embrace all races, like La Raza (translation: "Das Volk") and the Congressional Black Caucus.
And isn't it interesting that the supposedly "conservative" Fox News failed to mention that it was Mr. Oakley who organized the violent protest against the YWC's event featuring Tom Tancredo, and even bragged later how Tancredo "was not able to practice his hate speech." These days, self-righteousness trumps the First Amendment.

I'm no fan of YWC--it seems like an extremely neocon group targeting college and graduate students, and the damage that neocons did to our country the past eight years will take long to repair. But I observe one thing:
1. Unless it has camouflage better than an elite military unit, it is definitely not a hate group. Oppositon to multiculturalism does not, in and of itself, equal racism.
2. Even if it is a racist hate group, YWC has the right to exist and make its views known, just as its opponents can do the same.
YWC is certainly not a neocon group. One of the fundamental tenants of neoconservatism is open borders. Only in the twisted world of the SPLC can a group that is opposing illegal immigration be considered a hate group but groups like LaRaza who are encouraging this activity are considered "civil rights organizations."
The fact that the SPLC is trying to pre-emptively destroy this group's reputation shows how scared the establishment is of it. If a group like this would have existed when I was a student at Ole Miss a couple of years ago it would literally have had hundreds of members. If YWC wants to become a serious threat to the establishment, its best line of attack is to recruit members from Greek organizations at Southern universities. I can say from personal experience that the Greek community is full of "right wing" students looking for direction.
YWC is a promising organization that deserves our support. I will be sending in a donation shortly. If a college student in the modern-day academic environment has the courage to stand up to the left-wing, thug establishment, we should be willing to stand behind them.
