Hispanic children are the majority in Texas’ first-grade classrooms
Assimilation is not a problem -- we're being assimilated into the emerging Hispanic majority just fine. Note the barely contained glee of the demographer:
What we have not known so clearly — until a couple of recent reports — is that the white population is dwindling.
In a new report on population trends in public schools, the Texas Education Agency reports that Texas now enrolls 130,000 fewer white children than 10 years ago.
For the first time, Hispanic children dominate first-grade classes, adding about 4,000 children last year to become the outright majority with 50.2 percent of students. ...
If this is a surprise to us, it’s not one to Karl Eschbach of the University of Texas-San Antonio, appointed by Gov. Rick Perry as the official state demographer.
"What people don’t realize is the sheer inevitability of this change," Eschbach said Friday. ...
"If you live your life in the Anglo-majority-dominated world" — like suburban North Texas, one of the whitest parts of the state — "then you might not see the change," Eschbach said.
"But it would be tough to find a schoolchild who thinks of Texas as Anglo. With every passing year, Texas is going to be more Hispanic."
Get that? It's inevitable. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

The answer is simple. Deport all Latinos/Hispanics/Chicanos/Spics.....whatever you want to call them. Don't let any more in.
Then throw out all the Muslims/Moslems/Towelheads........whatever you want to call them. Don't let any more in.
Next, throw out all the African-Americans/Blacks/Coloreds/Negroes/Niggers....again, whatever you want to call them. Again, don't let any more in.
And toss out Jews/Kikes, Atheists/Godless, Hindus/Dotheads, who else can we think of......jeez, let's get rid of anyone who does not adhere to the doctrine that the "Southern Anglo-Celtic Christian" culture must reign supreme, at all costs, and all others are vastly inferior. Then you will be left with the country that you want.
Often for the better, sometimes for the worse, all countries change and evolve. A few try to stand still. And those that do so inevitably collapse or perish.
Here's a better idea--get your heads out of the 1850s and 1860s. Recognize that it is 2009. As my high school football coach would say, get with the program or get the hell out.
Bill DeLuca,
My, the insensitive language you liberals use.
First, being a Southerner is not a matter of doctrine; we are a real, living ethnic group with a real, shared history and culture, not the product of some utopian ideology. A vital part of that culture is a conservative political tradition that distrusts top-down, forced social reengineering in favor of bottom-up, culturally based ways of dealing with life's challenges. Look up what de Tocqueville wrote about the different ways Europeans and Americans dealt with social issues and you'll see what I mean.
Second, I'll give you the title to my car if you can quote anything I wrote claiming Southerners were some kind of master race superior to all others. (Hint: it ain't there.) Two comments: You're confusing the Southern Cause of small, local government and the love of tradition, place, and family with the "progressive" movement's fixation on human perfectability. Margaret Sanger, Joseph Goebbels, and Trofim Lysenko believed in eugenics. Such notions never caught on in the South, where we simply preferred to carry on the family name. Also, to love one's own is not a claim of their superiority. My wife and daughter are special to me, and I would sacrifice anything for them. That's not saying they're the smartest, most beautiful, etc. in the world. The natural desire to preserve one's own culture and see one's people survive is not hatred.
Finally, I can assure you we're quite aware of the calendar and the passage of time. All cultures adapt to new circumstances, but they adapt in order to preserve who they are.
I'm waiting to see you post on a Jewish website how stuck in the past they are. I'd say they have every right to want to preserve their civilization. But I claim the same right for ourselves.
With no apologies.
Well, you could have fooled me... I will give you that I have not seen any posts (at least by you) that are overtly racist and/or promote the Southerners as a master race. But read between the lines on many of your posts--such as this one--and it is not hard to get the message. Any culture that Southerners find abhorrent, especially those of nonwhites, is to be treated as inferior.
Second, having lived in the South, the "conservative, local government first" approach efinitely does not represent a plurality, let alone a majority, of Southerners. I will grant you that as a whole, Southerners are socially more conservative than Americans as a whole. But being such a large region with a large population, there is no one Southern culture.
As for preserving your culture, on whatever level you choose to do so (family, friends, extended family, commmunity, so on) you are free to do so. To be honest, the libertarian in me really doesn't care what you do in your personal life. But at the very least, respect the right of other cultures to do the same. My family has its own traditions. As one of (largely) Italian heritage, I participate in a number of traditions and practices as well. But I don't degrade anyone else's traditions, nor do I assert that they are ruining my heritage, the country and so forth.
And, getting to your point about posting on a Jewish web site, I take offense at that. I have a number of close friends who are Jewish. Orthodox Jews, in particular the Ultraorthodox minority, are a very tradition-intensive group. At the same time, they are also very insular. In other words, they don't care what other religious, ethnic, etc. groups try to do. They keep to themselves and don't try to impose their beliefs on others.
Perhaps you and your ilk could learn a lesson or two from them.

OK -- no matter the facts, we're guilty of racism. Got it.
DeLuca: "Any culture that Southerners find abhorrent, especially those of nonwhites, is to be treated as inferior."
Again, how is preserving our way of life the equivalent of treating others as inferior? And yet again, why doesn't that rule apply to other ethnic groups, such as Jews?
DeLuca: "And, getting to your point about posting on a Jewish web site, I take offense at that."
I say that Southerners have the same right as Jews to preserve our way of life, and you get offended?

But that's not the attitude of Jews in Israel. What's their official quota of Pakistanis they're bringing into Israel to provide them with diversity? Or Egyptians? How about 5,000 Palestinians per month to settle in Tel Aviv? At taxpayer expense, of course.
Do we have the right to preserve our own nation's traditional religion, culture, and demography?
And forget about Israel. Look at how the Mexican military hammers down illegal immigrants from Central America. Why do they have that right, but not us?
Just askin'.
