Secret Service confiscates books & buttons from Ron Paul delegates

How the GOP makes sure we put "Country First" -- by stifling any and all dissent:
Today at the Republican National Convention, as the Ron Paul Delegates were taking a picture in front of the model White House inside the Convention Center, they were surrounded by Secret Service which proceeded to search the bags of all the delegates. They took any and everything related to Ron Paul including signs, buttons, videos, slim jims, cards, even books.
Aren't you glad Bush & Co. are bravely sacrificing our armed forces in Iraq to protect our freedom?

It gets worse. I was just reading the Daily Newscenter Report. I moved away from it to read something else, and when I returned to it, I got this error message:

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to figure out what happened...

There are a lot of people who lie...
This just makes me sick to my stomach, literally.
I'm a Donnie Kennedy fan, pro-state's rights, and right down the line as conservative as they come. If a rebellion eventually broke out between the Feds and the South, I'd join the South in a heartbeat. However, that being said, I don't get how the heck you guys keep promoting this libertarian anti-war idea, while at the same time claiming that you have the "politically incorrect" and "true" historical perspective. How does that work exactly? Iraq refuses weapons inspectors in its country, intelligence verifies they have wmds, they even find some wmds when they role into Baghdad (not reported by your liberal media), they support terrorist organizations that already made war on us, and yet somehow we were wrong to invade? Give me a break. You get tired of people rewriting the Second American Revolution, let's stop rewriting the Iraq War!
Saturday morning, the Daily Newscenter Report link was restored. Still, the Forbidden error leaves one wondering whether this is a portent of things to come...
Jonathan:
It works like this: there is the imperial approved version of history, then there is the truth. Unfortunately, the yankee regime emulates Machiavelli, so truth is not in their repertoire. We Southrons don't claim that the South was perfect - just correct in its understanding and defence of the original American Republic.
We're not anti-war per se, but we are very anti-UNjust war - which is what the one in Iraq is. Don't be blinded by your youthly zeal. Even the leaders of the empire have now admitted that they lied about everything you claim to be the justifications for invading Iraq. Sadly, too many Americans are so brainwashed, or so 'patriotic' (but I repeat myself), that they'll continue to immolate their children and their wealth for an evil cause.
This is your 'break', son. Learn from it, and in the future, show that you have profited from the lesson.
Even when in came to the inspectors being let in, they were being stopped by the Iraqis back in the late 90's and then President Bill Clinton was threating to invade (I want to say that was in winter/spring of 98). Afterwards, Saddam allowed the inspectors back in until 02, when he kicked them out again. With military action being threatend once again, Saddam again complied with the U.N., allowed the inspectors in, and was bending over backwards getting them documents by the deadlines they were requesting them. Saddam was complying with the U.N. and the U.S. ordered the U.N. out and began the invasion. In the past few years, even the U.S. Government admitted they recieved false intelligence concerning the WMD's.

jonathan e. harris,
Always keep first principles first.
Number One: the government lies.
Number Two: never forget principle number one.
Then we rely on logic and fact. Is it logical that a fourth-rate power such as Iraq could be a threat to the US? They didn't even control their own air space, for crying out loud. So when Bush & Co. were stampeding the herds because "our freedom and security" were supposedly threatened by Iraq, they should've been laughed out of office.
Then there are the undisputed facts. Number One: Iraq did NOT keep UN inspectors out. Those inspectors insisted up to the end that there were no WMD, and they were right. Even Bush has admitted to it. Heck, even that swelled head Bill O'Reilly has admintted he was wrong about WMD.
Look at how the government has expanded its power with this war. What does that suggest to you? That maybe they have good reason to whoop up war to advance their agenda, you think?
harold thomas,
I expect greater government censorship over the 'net any day now. To protect "the children," and to stop those eeevil Islamomeanies. All for our own good, you see.
I read somewhere (wish I could remember so I could cite it) that the only read WMD that Saddam had was that he was about to begin accepting Euros in payment for Iraqi oil. Can't have than now, can we?
Sebastian Ronin,
Yes, I heard the same explanation. I've not seen confirmation, but can easily imagine that would've sealed Saddam's fate.
Here's an interesting article Mr. Harris might read ... don't know right off if you've posted before or not -

I didn't know confiscation of political materials at a political convention was in the job description of the Secret Service. It sounds like something the Brownshirt SA in prewar Germany would do...!!
I actually doubt that the Secret Service interfered with delegates at the RNC. Having been a past GOP up-and-comer, it is likely that these alleged SS officers were hired security that then emulated the SS in their appearance. Even more likely, they were paid staffers and volunteers of the McCain campaign.
Any one can get a pair of sunglasses, a dark suit, ear piece, and wrist microphone for their Motorola two-way radio. It makes for good drama, but it is unlikely that the empire was concerned enough to confiscate campaign materials of the Ron Paul campaign.
