Why many Americans prefer their Sundays segregated
Freedom of choice, the right of free association, and just wanting to be with folks you feel comfortable with -- those are the freedoms that busy-bodies in government and in some churches cannot tolerate. Human nature must be conquered, they seem to think, so we can make people behave the way WE think they should. But resistance to integrated churches not only continues, but is increasing, as CNN reports:
Only about 5 percent of the nation's churches are racially integrated, and half of them are in the process of becoming all-black or all-white, says Curtiss Paul DeYoung, co-author of "United by Faith," a book that examines interracial churches in the United States.
DeYoung's numbers are backed by other scholars who've done similar research. They say integrated churches are rare because attending one is like tiptoeing through a racial minefield. Just like in society, racial tensions in the church can erupt over everything from sharing power to interracial dating.
Yet, the busy-bodies wag their fingers and preach that racial integration in the churches will lessen racial conflict. The fact that it's had the opposite effect, both in schools and, as this article reports, in churches, too, doesn't make any difference to the ideologues.

I've noticed quite an odd trend.
Any "all black" churches are glorified in the media, but "all white" churches are either never mentioned or demonized.
Randy Weaver was being accused in the media of painting swastikas on his children's forehead, because he attended a White church twice.
Yet, Barack Obama can spend 20 years at a Black church, and only now is the pastor having his patriotism questioned.
I personally think that there shouldn't be segreation at a truly Christian church, but that is a personal choice by the people, not a decision by the state.
It's all about control.
son3,
I think you're right -- control is the real issue here.
And yes, a black church with an aggressively "black" agenda is just fine -- but a white church is assumed to be up to no good.
Funny world, ain't it?
You'll have to excuse my typos!
It's hard to find them when you already know what you've written. :)
Unity is Christ is spiritual, but God divided the peoples physically so that "they might seek after him."(Acts 17:26) True Christianity isn't a Tower of Babel.
Some thangs will never change.
Negroes have their own churches, funeral homes, cemeteries, beauty parlors, barber shops, and clothing styles.
ONLY schools have been the object of change.. and Gub'mint mandated at that.
