Oklahoma Rebellion

Economist Walter Williams approves of Oklahoma's bold assertion of its sovereign rights:

Oklahomans are trying to recover some of their lost state sovereignty by House Joint Resolution 1089, introduced by State Rep. Charles Key.

"...the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States. That this serve as Notice and Demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers."

That's simple and direct enough for even DC to understand.

Though the Oklahoma Senate quashed the measure, it still indicates a growing trend toward localism and away from the one-size-fits-all mentality that shapes the Federal government's approach to EVERY problem. It's a sign of health this country desperately needs.

I can't improve on Williams' conclusion:

State efforts, such as Oklahoma's, create a glimmer of hope that one day Americans and their elected representatives will realize that the federal government is the creation of the states. A bit of rebellion by officials in other states will speed that process along.

Amen to that!

I urge everyone who reads this blog to get a copy of the Oklahoma Sovereignty Resolution, revise it to fit your State, and submit it to a friendly State Legislator for passage in the next legislative session. We might be surprised to find that there are some courageous men and women out there on the State level such as Rep. Key from Oklahoma.

I have a copy of the resolution and will be happy to send it to this blog for posting.

As a proud citizen of the State of Oklahoma, I would ask every interested soul to check out www.ok-safe.org and see the ongoing battle we are having against the Trans Texas Corrodor, better known as the NAFTA superhighway. If this thing is not stopped the North American Union will soon be a physical reality. Folks, y'all need to start kickin' butt and takin' names now while we still can.

Hoo-rah, hoo-rah, for Southern States hoo-rah! With a resolution like this, the Okies should be considered Confederates!

damoncrowe,

Well, I suppose they are. The Cherokee nation joined the Confederacy, and even had delegates attend the Confederate Congress.

Hey ya'll
Not only is this a great idea , but also a catalyst to promote amending the constitution to repeal the illegal 14th amendment!
I might also add that our own Glenn McConnell, SC senator from Charleston proposed getting legislatures to call for a constitutional convention as well.
As a last resort, we citizenry can exercise our "sovreign" citizenship under ArticleV .
I just hope these illegal courts don't rule it improper!

Huzzah for Oklahoma! The states need more legislators like Key.

It is interesting that several Indian Nations joined up with the Confederacy. I guess they recognized state sovereignty.

A relative of mine (Great-Great Uncle I think) was the delegate to the Second Confederate Congress representing the Creeks and Seminoles. He lived in Oklahoma too.
