Just spell the name right

V.C. Rogers, cartoonist for the Durham (NC) Independent, has prepared an appropriate tribute for Jesse Helms, former US Senator from North Carolina, who passed away last week: A Confederate flag at half-staff in a sea of American flags.
Although Rogers probably intended the cartoon to be an insult, Sen. Helms would probably have appreciated it. Thank the Independent for the fitting Confederate tribute to Sen. Helms with a letter to the editor at PO Box 2690, Durham NC 27715, via fax at (919) 286-4274, via e-mail at backtalk@indyweek.com or by posting a comment on their webpage at http://tinyurl.com/5nn4vs
Thanks to NC South!

Jesse was an icon and a sharp politician who never gave in to the "rank" and file VILE we have in the District of Corruption.
I hope his legacy will inspire future Southerners who become REAL leaders as he was.
The battle flag at half mast..
How inspiring!
I would amend the text to read "A Confederate American flag at half-mast in a sea of Stars & Stripes American flags."
There are many American flags, those shown in the cartoon are only two of the species.
