McCain to NRA: You're stuck with me
Yet another conservative group surrenders to the unpleasant truth, and accepts McCain despite his past hostility toward them. As bad as he is, they tell themselves, the Democrats are worse:
But even the encomiums of McCain's former GOP presidential rivals and other Republican elected officials could not dispel the suspicions of many gun enthusiasts.
"He's the lesser evil," said one young self-described "gunnie" from the Memphis area who blogs at squeakywheelseeksgrease.com. "But I'm still looking for the right candidate. . . . I'm not thrilled at all with John McCain." Many bloggers who write about gun issues use pseudonyms because of the controversial nature of the debate.
The forces of Big Government are on a tacking course, zig-zagging from left to right, throwing up whatever smoke screens they must to take us closer and closer to authoritarianism. And McCain is the closest thing voters have to a conservative candidate. But he's not offering a watered-down conservatism, he's merely the only candidate using conservative terminology to describe his Big-Government agenda -- with the added incentive of tossing us a few bones.
We can either be thankful for what they'll give us, or -- recall the powers we've delegated to a failed system and build a government that actually promotes our values and protects our way of life.
That's the choice the mainstream parties don't want you to know you still have.

The NRA was captured quite some time ago.
I am already sick of this election season, all the more so because I do not know for sure who would be the worst.
Remember that the Presidency is not just one man with duly delegated powers. It is a vast bureaucracy in itself, with many powerful secretarial positions (agriculture, ATF, transportation, defense, judge appointments, diplomats). That, and, thanks to GWBush, the President himself has near dictatorial powers.

I do not really want to see ANYONE with such powers, not even Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, or Chuck Baldwin. There is but one King, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Obama and McCain are comtemptible characters both, and almost assuredly one of them will be elected dictator. I officially weep for my nation.

Of course, if you want a REAL pro-gun organization, try Gun Owners of America. Larry Pratt wouldn't have anything to do with McCain.
