Bush sacrifices for the dead and wounded troops
I swear, I cannot tell the difference between reports from this insane administration and Onion satire. Guess what this is:
U.S. President George W. Bush said on Tuesday he quit playing golf in 2003 out of respect for the families of Americans killed in the war in Iraq.
"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf," Bush said in an interview with Yahoo and Politico.com.
"I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal," he said.
Sadly, this one's for real.
UPDATE: And then, maybe -- just maybe -- this swaggering coward lied to us again.

I watched his speech to the Israeli parliament this morning.

Every American should pay close attention to his strong message of support for "eretz Israel" which is an expanded version of what it claims today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_of_Israel

We're on our way to war. The Republican strategy appears to be that McCain will be the "War Candidate" and Obama will be the appeasing Chamberlain.

We're in deep you know what.
Pinky:
President Bush pere called it "doo-doo". Cutesy, but accurate.
Apparently, Bush has adopted Israel as America's special burden.
I'm still trying to find the clause in the Constitution that makes us responsible for funding a foreign country's national security.
Article VI. The Constitution says that if we make a treaty making ourselves responsible for funding a foreign country's national security, we are so obligated, since treaties are part of the supreme law of the land.
Unfortunately, even the wisdom of the Founding Fathers could not make the Constitution completely idiot-proof.
Hey, this is quite a sacrifice considering he wouldn't even give up nose candy for the Vietnam war, but of course that was long before he became Decider-in-Chief. Greater responsibilities require greater gestures of leadership.
.
I think we could change that "decider-in-chief" to the "DIVIDER-in-chief"

What was started with Nixon has been brought to full blossom by GeeDubya.

harold thomas,
I can see coming to the aid of an ally when it's in our national interest -- but what in the name of Sam Hill do we get in return? Other than the undying hatred of Muslims, that is.
rex osborne,
And W is the chief gesturer, too. It's somewhere in the Constitution.
Maybe in our Constitutional Conventions, we should consider putting time limits on treaties...
